In the article the concept of career is analysed. The aim of the paper is to present what are the differ-ences in career conception of young people in the con-text of gender stereotypes. The paper consists of two parts. In the first part models of career conceptions and their shift in the contemporary work world are ana-lysed. In the second part the investigation of women and men attitudes is presented and differences in career conceptions are analysed from the gender perspective. The results showed that young men are used to evalu-ate their career following the bureaucratic career model, while women in their attitudes are more ori-ented to the contemporary career model.
