European Studies Institute (ESI) was founded in 2005. The mission of ESI is strengthening humanitarian and international aspects within the university, the city of Siauliai and regional community to speed up integration into EU; organization, coordination and implementation of research and studies into European processes and way of life; collection of materials on European studies, their analysis, dissemination and practical application at the university; initiation and stimulation of collaboration and complex interdisciplinary activities between the departments of the Humanities Faculty to develop European studies.
The aims and objectives of ESI are as follows:
- carrying out research, applied programs and projects dealing with European issues
- looking for ways to integrate research potential of the Institute and the Humanities Faculty in the EU research programs
- integration of research activities of the Institute in the study process
- development and supervising of specialized study programs dealing with European issues (Master's, special professional studies', specializations, etc.)
- participation in academic exchange programs
- joining European academic information network
- organizing interdisciplinary and intercultural research conferences, seminars and other events connected with European issues
- developing material-technical base for research activities
- organizing educational and cultural events
- carrying out other activities to implement the aims of the Institute and the Faculty.
